Xerokambos

Xerokambos is located in the far south-east
of the island. Until recently the access was by a dirt road and it
prevented many people from going there. There is now an asphalted
road from Ziros and the dirt road from Zakros is being improved (and
probably asphalted). So it might grow to more than the few houses
that it is at the moment. Getting there: you will need your own vehicle
Atmosphere: you feel very much at the end of the world, the lanscape around Xerokambos is fairly harsh. Only suitable if you are really looking for remoteness.
Accommodation: There are quite a few houses offering holiday studios and apartments.
Restaurants: a few simple tavernas
Shopping: only very limited
Beach: several small beaches, partly rocky plates and partly fine sand. You will rarely find more than a handful of people on them. The beach is well suited to small children as the sea is fairly shallow.
